Newton, Kansas – 16 March 2004
The Automotive Management and Production System (AMPS) –
managed and developed by Adjacency Consulting Group, Inc. (HQ: Newton, KS) for Inter-rail Transport, Inc. (HQ: Centreville, MD), Union Pacific Corporation (HQ: Omaha, NE), subsidiaries, and affiliates – plays an integral role in managing inventory, logistics, and billing for the automotive industry. AMPS facilitates the loading, unloading, and transportation of automobiles via rail from U.S. manufacturing and import facilities. Reporting has been completed for the month of February 2004 from rail facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin, and the results are impressive.
AMPS handled over 195,000 inventory transactions from handheld/wireless and desktop computers during this period, which represents a similar number of vehicle transfers occurring during this timeframe. Based upon the $25,0971
average retail price of a 2004 automobile, this would calculate to a total of $4.89 billion in estimated retail value.
President and CEO of Adjacency, Brian J. Jackson, has this to say of the report: “All the credit goes deservingly to the men and women in our clients’ organizations who make it their business to get these vehicles to their destinations, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. We’re proud that AMPS can play a role in that process. With all of the recent and troubling news regarding the U.S. economy, it is gratifying to know that we’re helping to make an impact. It’s a testimony to the team at Adjacency and
their commitment to AMPS, and we’re all very proud.”
